Leading Caboolture radio station 101.5fm is considering expanding its local and national news service following its successful launch at the beginning of this year.

101.5fm became one of the first community stations in Australia to establish its own independant newsroom with a team of journalists compiling news bulletins on the hour from 7am weekdays.

Local issues in the news affecting the Moreton Bay region are then followed up with live interviews and analysis in the locally produced "Morning Magazine" program.

Station President, Craig Hewlett said the broadcast of local news bulletins, updated on the hour, had received overwhelming community support and the station was now looking at the feasibility of extending the service throughout the day.

"We are now on the lookout for journalists with some experience who are willing to volunteer their services to help us achieve this," he said.

"101.5 is a community station run by volunteers, and we already have a mix of experienced journalists and talented students studying for their journalism degrees as part of our newsroom team.

It's a wonderful opportunity for anyone wanting first hand experience in a newsroom environment and a commitment to provide a much needed daily news service for our local community," Mr Hewlett said.

Those interested should send their CV to the station president at PO Box 418, Caboolture 4510, or phone the staiton at 5495 1015 during office hours.
